Position Information
Beck Center for the Arts – Licensed and Board Certified Music Therapist
Part-time (with growth potential), hourly, non-exempt
Start Date: Immediately
Functioning as a member of the Creative Arts Therapies team, the music therapist (LPMT, MT-BC) serves individuals of all ages with and without various disabilities. Assignments include placement in agencies throughout Northeast Ohio region as well as group music therapy sessions, group music programming, and/or adapted programming at Beck Center for the Arts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with early childhood groups and the flexibility to lead a variety of groups of different ages and abilities.
Responsibilities:
LPMT, MT-BC’s primary responsibility includes the design and implementation of early childhood music enrichment programs (infant-age 5) both in the community and at Beck Center.
LPMT, MT-BC may design and implement music therapy programming in special education classrooms in local school district.
LPMT, MT-BC may also be a part of various one-time community arts programs with grades K-5.
LPMT, MT-BC may also lead early childhood music groups, adapted music groups and music therapy groups as a substitute in various locations both in the community and at Beck Center.
LPMT, MT-BC may also lead adapted and community arts programs as assigned by the Associate Director of Creative Arts Therapies.
Additional music therapy contracts in the community as they become available.
Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree or equivalency in Music Therapy
· Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
· Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
· Reliable transportation both to Beck Center and to various contracts in the community
1-2 years’ experience as a music therapist in a community-based program preferred.
A self-motivated individual with experience and desire to move the music therapy program forward by assisting the Associate Director in increasing participation and community awareness.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
· Flexibility, creativity, and dedication to serving the needs of program participants.
· Flexibility of schedule (to be discussed at time of interview).
· Must consent to and satisfactorily pass background check conducted by Beck Center.
· Must consent to and be fingerprinted through Ohio BCI and FBI.
This job description is a general description of essential job functions. It is the goal and vision of the Creative Arts Therapies program to continue developing programming for all ages, abilities and populations in and around the Northeast Ohio area.
Pay Rate: $25-$30 per hour. Hourly rate will be discussed with each potential candidate (commensurate with experience).
