Violin Instructor
Position Information
Beck Center for the Arts – Violin Instructor
Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Beck Center’s Music Education program seeks a dynamic teaching artist to instruct students ages 5-up in violin studies. The ideal candidate will be an experienced performer and educator with a proven ability to work with children as well as adults of varying abilities. Training in the Suzuki method is preferred. Ability to teach beginning viola is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities:
· Instruct students in weekly private violin lessons. Instructors are expected to teach consistently during the academic year with an optional summer semester. Remaining 2025-2026 year: Winter/Spring semester (through end of May), and Summer semester (June 8 - August 14)
· Teach a group beginning Suzuki violin class (if trained in Suzuki method).
· Provide a high standard of music instruction that meets the needs of each individual student, tracking their short-term and long-term goals toward sustained growth
· Communicate with students, parents, and staff to facilitate lessons and foster student retention
· Track attendance and enrollment accurately and in a timely manner in the faculty roll book
· Prepare students for Student Showcase recitals and participate in faculty recitals
Qualifications:
· BA or MA in music performance and/or education
· Experience teaching privately and/or in a classroom setting
· Experience performing violin in a professional setting
· Suzuki Training through Book 4 preferred but not required
· An articulate customer service-oriented individual who communicates well with students, families, and colleagues
· Excellent organizational skills with ability to be prepared to lead weekly lessons that are educational with developmentally and age-appropriate content
· Hiring contingent upon passing a background check
Hours:
· A minimum of 2 weekday evenings and/or Saturday, hours flexible to candidate availability
· Position available immediately
Pay Rate: $25-$35 per hour. Hourly rate will be discussed with each potential candidate (commensurate with experience).
