What to Wear to Dance Classes

Girls/Women Ballet, Pointe

Youth/teens wear black camisole leotard, ballet pink tights, pink leather ballet slippers (split sole for intermediate and advanced levels), and hair short, in a bun, or in braids. Braids should not exceed a length much lower than the shoulder. Short hair must be kept neat, secure, and away from the face. Adult women wear black leotard, ballet pink tights, pink leather ballet slippers, and hair off neck and fastened close to head. Braids should not exceed a length much lower than the shoulder.

Preballet, Preschool Dance & Kids-N-Dance

Girls wear black short sleeve or capped sleeve leotard (no skirts), ballet pink tights, pink leather ballet slippers, and hair short, in a bun, or in braids. Braids should not exceed a length much lower than the shoulder. Short hair must be kept neat, secure, and away from the face.

Contemporary

Leotard and footless-tights or dance shorts and bare feet. Body Beautiful: Leotard and tights or nonrestrictive clothing and bare feet or ballet slippers. Hip Hop: Nonrestrictive clothing and Jazz boot or oxford, or clean sneakers.

Jazz

Black leotard, black jazz pants, and black jazz shoe. Hair secured. Long hair must be in a ponytail. Tap: Black tap shoes only, low heel preferred. Oxford for adults. Black leotard, jazz pants. Hair secured. Long hair must be in a ponytail.
